This is a website dedicated to books: the joys of reading and writing.
Most of us know that one of the most pleasant experiences in life is to curl up in front of the fireplace on a cold wintry night, and escape within a story.
Nothing really compares to being able to use your own imagination to create the images of characters in your mind the way you want them to look, the scenery just the way you want to see it, and the scenes played out over and over again in the manner in which you want them to unfold.
Watching a movie doesn’t come close to being able to sketch the story the way you want it to be. Anyone who has ever read a book first and then watched the movie version can attest to the fact that so much was missed, so much was overlooked. It’s impossible for a movie to capture completely what the characters are thinking, or the moral dilemmas they face. Silent soliloquies are possible in books, but cannot work in movies.
Reading is, quite simply, exercise for both the mind and the soul.
And a nutrient for that wonderful thing we know as imagination.
